This panel brings a group of senior chemical and energy leaders together to examine how the ongoing volatility in global energy markets is reshaping the economics of chemical manufacturing. With rapid swings in natural gas, power, and feedstock costs, producers are re-evaluating their asset footprints, operating models, and long-term investment priorities. This virtual panel will explore what has structurally changed, how manufacturers are responding to global energy price volatility and macro uncertainty and what executives should prioritize through 2026 to manage risk, protect margins, and remain competitive.

Speaker Biographies:
Tom Aldred leads Deloitte’s Chemicals West Cluster and Customer Strategy & Design practice for the Energy & Chemicals sector. Based in Dallas, he brings nearly 30 years of experience helping global oil, gas, and chemical companies drive growth through business strategy, commercial excellence, and innovation. Tom has authored multiple Deloitte publications and contributed to World Economic Forum papers on growth and advanced materials. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State.
Kate Hardin leads Deloitte’s Research Center for Energy & Industrials and has worked in the energy industry for 30 years. Previously Kate led global energy analysis at IHSMarkit focused on projects in the US, Russia, and Europe. At Cambridge Energy Research Associates Kate worked with institutional investors focused on US shale plays. Kate is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has an MA and an MBA from Yale University.
Nico Imlinger is Senior Director of the Business Team Energy & Industrial, North and Central America at Wacker Chemical Corporation, where he leads a regional business that is placed at the intersection of electrification, infrastructure transformation, and sustainable energy systems. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Nico oversees a portfolio centered on energy-relevant silicone solutions and industrial applications, with full responsibility for strategic growth, P&L performance, innovation direction, and market development.
With more than 20 years at WACKER, spanning key leadership roles in both Germany and the U.S., he brings a uniquely global perspective on the energy demands facing today’s chemical industry and how evolving energy markets create both challenges and growth opportunities for the chemical industry.
Nico’s doctorate in chemistry and hands-on leadership across operations, supply chain, investments, and engineering, gives him an exceptional grasp of the chemical industry’s energy dependencies. WACKER being a company with energy-intensive footprint, Nico understands the energy–chemicals nexus inside out.
(MODERATOR) Jen McCarthy is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of experience in revenue generation and strategic sales leadership. As Head of Business Development at Xenon arc, she partners with chemical manufacturers to drive growth, increase brand awareness, and transform how they reach their customers.
Jen holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington. She also serves as Vice President, Administration, is on the Board of Directors and is an active member of the Program Committee for Société de Chimie Industrielle.
