Who We Are

Société was founded in 1918 in New York as the American Section of a French parent. Today, Société is an independent organization involved in a number of non-profit activities: sponsoring a noted monthly meeting program, open to nonmembers, at which prominent CEOs, government leaders and scientists from the chemical and related industries share their views on important industry developments; granting fellowships and scholarships to students pursuing the study of chemistry; honoring individuals who have contributed significantly to the industry; and providing a variety of other services to individuals and companies in the industry.

Member Spotlight

Jeff Kenton joined the Société de Chimie Industrielle in 2017. He currently serves as the President of Acme-Hardesty Co., an international leader in oleochemical sourcing and distribution. With over 30 years of global leadership experience in both public and private sectors of commodity and specialty chemicals, in both manufacturing and chemical distribution, Jeff has gained extensive experience in the chemical industry.

Jeff was inspired by the mission of Société when he was introduced to the organization through colleagues at Acme-Hardesty Co.  He found the format of the monthly luncheon speaker program to be both efficient and effective.  Furthermore, he discovered many unique networking opportunities that have proven to be advantageous in his current role.

In 2019, Jeff was invited to join the Board of Directors for the Société de Chimie Industrielle where he has applied his knowledge and background to help enhance the impact of Société interactions and purposes. In addition to serving as a board member of the Société, Jeff is also actively involved in their mentorship program.  He is also a Trustee of the New York Chemists’ Club.
