Who We Are

Société was founded in 1918 in New York as the American Section of a French parent. Today, Société is an independent organization involved in a number of non-profit activities: sponsoring a noted monthly meeting program, open to nonmembers, at which prominent CEOs, government leaders and scientists from the chemical and related industries share their views on important industry developments; granting fellowships and scholarships to students pursuing the study of chemistry; honoring individuals who have contributed significantly to the industry; and providing a variety of other services to individuals and companies in the industry.

Member Spotlight

Mark Casiano, a Société member since January 2016, leads all strategic and executional aspects of sales, account management, marketing & communications and customer experience departments for Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (Odyssey), a global logistics solutions provider. Odyssey’s deep experience with every phase of the transport process across industries has been developed over decades, with expertise in the complex markets of chemical, food and metals. Throughout his logistics career, he has been closely connected with the American Chemistry Council through their Responsible Care Partnership Programs.

Logistics has moved from the backroom to the boardroom and understanding the criticality of the supply and chemical industry trends is an imperative for global chemical manufacturers.   Since Odyssey provides the critical links in the chemical supply chain, Mark relays trends and valuable insights garnered for Société interactions that enhance Odyssey leadership positioning.

Mark originally joined Société to expand his understanding of the industry through interactions with key chemical developers and organizations and has gained so much through the organizations many networking and industry-focused events. He has volunteered in Société’s highly successful student mentorship program for four consecutive years.  As a current member of our Board of Directors, Mark is also a member of the Membership & Marketing Committee and looks forward to expanding the group’s awareness among the next generation of chemical and logistics talent.
